What is The Mama Tribe?
Ten months. One mentor. A whole village behind her.
The Mama Tribe is One Happy Mama’s signature mentoring program for young mothers in Greater New Orleans. Over ten months, each mama is matched with a mentor who shows up consistently—helping her set goals, work through obstacles, and take real steps toward the life she wants for herself and her children.
Mentoring is paired with practical support, because encouragement alone doesn’t cover diapers or a bus fare. Mamas receive holistic support services, educational support, group workshops and experiences, and a monthly stipend that removes some of the pressure standing between them and their goals.
The result is more than a program. It’s a tribe—a network of mothers, mentors, and community partners who keep showing up for each other long after graduation.

Personalized Mentoring
Ten months of one-on-one and group mentoring with a mentor matched to her goals and personality.
Goal Setting & Support
Personal, parenting, educational, and career goals—named out loud, broken down, and supported step by step.
Educational Support
Help pursuing a GED, continuing education, certifications, and the next step in school or training.
Holistic Support Services
Diaper distribution, essential baby items, transportation assistance, and more—so daily needs don’t derail progress.
Monthly Stipend
A monthly monetary stipend recognizing that a mother’s time and participation have real value.
