Our Story
One Happy Mama began with a simple belief: no mother should have to navigate motherhood alone.
What started as a community created to connect and support mothers grew into something much bigger when we recognized a critical gap—young mothers needed more than resources. They needed consistent support, meaningful relationships, access to opportunities, and people who believed in who they could become.
In 2022, One Happy Mama was established to help fill that gap. Through The Mama Tribe, our signature mentoring program, we pair young mothers with mentors who walk alongside them as they pursue personal, educational, career, and parenting goals. As our community grew, so did our work. Today, our Community of Mamas initiatives bring resources, wellness, education, maternal health programming, and joyful experiences directly into the communities we serve.
From mentoring young mothers to convening families and community partners through our annual Rooted in Love Black Maternal Health Week Block Party, everything we do is rooted in the same idea that started it all: when mamas have the support they need to thrive, their children, families, and communities are stronger because of it.

Meet the Founder
Janitza Vasquez
One Happy Mama was founded by Janitza Vasquez, a mother, nonprofit leader, and community advocate who believes motherhood should never mean putting your own dreams on hold.
What began as a desire to create a space where mothers could feel supported without judgment grew into a larger mission: ensuring young mothers have the mentorship, resources, opportunities, and community they need to thrive. As a mother herself, Janitza understands the power of having a village—and the difference it can make when someone genuinely believes in you.
Today, she leads One Happy Mama with a simple belief at the center of the work: when we invest in mothers, we strengthen families and ultimately build stronger communities.
